Mariners are advised that bathymetric survey operations are due to be carried out between the Solway Firth and the Dee Estuary starting in May 2019. A Notice to Mariners has been issued, which is summarised below and can be downloaded here.
The survey operations are due to start in May 2019 and will continue to June 2019, weather permitting.
Location
Survey works will be conducted along profile lines perpendicular to the coast at 1km intervals. These lines will extend from the 15m depth contour to the Mean Low Water Neap contour inshore. The location of the profile lines is shown in charts in the Notice to Mariners which can be downloaded here.
Vessel details
The survey will be carried out by the vessel MV Titan Discovery. The vessel details, including a link to its present location, are:-
- MV Titan Discovery: Survey Vessel | Call sign 2HCR3.
During the course of survey operations the vessel will be displaying the relevant IRPCS day shapes and night lights. The vessel may be restricted in the ability to manoeuvre and vessels are requested to observe a safe operating distance around the survey vessel.
