This is a quick update about progress with the consenting processes for the proposed Awel y Môr offshore wind farm.
A Marine Licence application was submitted to Natural Resources Wales (NRW) in April 2022 for consent to carry out geotechnical investigations within the boundary of the proposed wind farm array and export cable corridor. The nature of these investigations and information about how to respond to the Marine Licence application is summarised below.
Proposed Geotechnical Investigations
The proposed fieldwork consists of 68 boreholes, 98 seabed Cone Penetration Tests (CPTs) and 30 vibro-cores to be undertaken in a single campaign at some point during the period between October 2023 and March 2024. Details of this work are provided in supporting information that can be downloaded here.
The Marine Licence relates specifically to work being undertaken to gather information that will inform the detailed design of the project, in the event that it receives consent later this year.
