Gwynt y Môr Windfarm: Weekly Notice of Operations, 6th July 2012

This is a summary of the weekly notice of operations for the Gwynt y Môr Wind Farm issued on 6th July 2012 to harbour masters and sea users.  This notice describes recent operations, work planned for the next 7 days, and provides a list of vessels operating on the site with their contact details.

Work carried out over past 7 days

The following work has been carried out in the past week:

  • Penrhos Bay has been used as a CTV / Stand by vessel when required, running out of Conwy Marina or Deganwy.
  • Choice has been on guard vessel duties (see Notice to Mariners 13 here).
  • MCS Ailsa commenced Pre Cable Lay Grapnel Route Survey (see Notice to Mariners 14 here).

Work planned for next 7 days

The work planned for the next 7 days on the site is:

  • Penhros Bay and Malltraeth Bay will be utilised as Crew Transfer / Stand by vessel, running out of Conwy Marina or Deganwy.
  • Choice will remain on station as guard vessel.
  • MCS Ailsa will continue Pre Cable Lay Grapnel Route Survey (see Notice to Mariners 14 here).
  • Cable barge Cable Enterprise and support vessels Fairplay 27, Whalsa Lass and on completion of PLGR the MCS Ailsa will arrive and commence work from Pensarn beach towards the offshore substations.
  • CPT Barge to arrive and commence operations in Cammel Laird Wet Basin

  • ChoiceMarine Mammal Observation Vessel / Guard Vessel.
  • MCS Ailsa: Multicat for export cable barge | Call sign – 5BDK3
  • Cable Enterprise: cable barge | Call sign 2FOV9
  • Whalsa Lass: multicat for expert cable barge | Call Sign – 2EZQ4
  • Fairplay 27: lead tug for export cable barge | Call sign 9HZE9

All vessels will monitor VHF Channel 16.

Port Arrivals

The planned port arrivals over the next 7 days are:-

  • Cammel Laird Birkenhead/Port of Liverpool.
    • MV Bente expected on 5th July 2012
    • MV Joerge N expected on 5th July 2012
    • CPT Barge for wet basin, arrival tbc.
  • Mostyn.
    • None planned
  • Conwy / Deganwy
    • Penrhos Bay  & Malltraeth Bay standing by in port when not utilised.
