The vessels carrying out this summer’s survey of the Western High Voltage DC Link are equipped with AIS (the Automatic Identification System). This provides real-time information about their location and also their recent movements.
We have linked up with the website marinetraffic.com to produce live maps that allow you to keep track of the vessels as they carry out the survey.
We have produced two maps, one showing the location of all of the survey vessels and the other providing detailed information about the vessel Granuaile, which is carrying out most of the survey.

The map below shows the current location of all of the vessels involved in the survey. You can zoom in and out of the map and click on the vessel icons to find out more about them and their recent movements.
To restore the map to its original settings, just hit the “refresh” button in your web browser, or press Ctrl-F5 on your keyboard.
