The installation of foundations (monopiles) and transition pieces on the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm is due to recommence later this month, in mid May 2013. The heavy lifting vessel Stansilav Yudin will be returning to the site to carry out this work. Full details of the work can be downloaded here and is summarised below.
Stanislav Yudin is due to install the remaining 80 monopiles at Gwynt y Môr and also 32 transition pieces. She is expected to arrive on site on 15th May 2013 and to complete this work by the end of August 2013 (weather and other conditions permitting – these dates are liable to change).
Stanislav Yudin is secured on site with a spread of 8 anchors. These could extend as far as 1200m from the vessel. The anchor handling vessels Bremen Fighter and Smit Angola will assist Stanislav Yudin. Monopiles and transition pieces will be transported to the site by the barges UR 3 and UR7 which will be towed by the Union Fighter (assisted in the Mersey by the Smit Sandon).
