Gwynt y Môr Windfarm: Weekly Progress Report, 30th June 2014

This is a summary of the weekly notice of operations for the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Windfarm issued on 30th June 2014 to harbour masters and sea users.  This notice describes progress with construction, recent operations, work planned for the next 7 days, and provides a list of vessels operating on the site with their contact details.

Wind Farm Construction Status

Progress with construction is illustrated in a map here, and summarised below:-

• Monopiles: 160 installed.  Monopile installation is complete.
• Transition pieces: 160 installed.  Transition piece installation is complete
• Export cables: 4 export cables installed; installation is complete.
• Array cables: 119 array cables installed, 42 remaining.
• Wind Turbine Generators: 160 installed, 0 remaining.  Installation is complete, apart from the blades on one turbine.

Work carried out over past 7 days

The following work has been carried out in the past week:

• Wind Solution is at anchor position south of Gwynt y Môr (see our previous notice here).
• Scirocco, Penrhos Bay, Abersoch Bay, Gardian 10, Gardian, Santa Ana, EMS Viking, Chinook, Cymyran Bay, Bayard 2 and Bayard 5 utilised as Crew Transfer Vessels when required sailing from Canada Dock 3 and Liverpool Marina.
• Penrhyn Bay, Gaillion, Porth Eilian, Caernarfon Bay, Gardian 2, Iceni Defiant, Kinmel Bay, Adventure, Buzzard, Captain P, Aberdaron Bay, Iceni Victory, Gardian 14, NSL Discovery and Kitty Petra sailed from the Port of Mostyn as required.
• Penrhos Bay & Tremadoc Bay are on 24 hour cover and being utilised by the Emergency Rescue Team sailing from RWE Pontoon Birkenhead.
• Commodore P sailed from Huskissons Dock as required to assist with cable operations.
• SWATH Sea Storm continued with operations at the wind farm.
• Isadale  performed guard duties.
• Seajack and support tugs mobilised for a few days work at the site, and have since completed all works and left the project.
• DSV Red7 Tonjer has continued with diving operations, assisting Polar Prince as required.
• HBC Supporter continued diving operations at the wind farm.
• Polar King continued array cable installation assisted by CTVs Rix Panther and Rix Tiger (see our previous notice here).
• Polar Prince departed for a dry dock period.
• Channel Chieftain VII, Cwind Challenger and Cwind Resolution continued refuelling operations on site based from Mostyn.
• Fugro Saltaire continued trenching operations and ROV survey work in Gwynt y Môr windfarm.
• Cable installation vessel Ndurance is preparing to repair OSPE export cable (see our notice to mariners here).

Work planned for next 7 days

The work planned for the next 7 days on the site is:

• Wind Solution will remain at anchor position to the south of Gwynt y Môr, sailing into Liverpool for shelter as required (see our previous notice here).
• Scirocco, Penrhos Bay, Abersoch Bay, Gardian 10, Gardian, Santa Ana, EMS Viking, Chinook, Cymyran Bay, Bayard 2 and Bayard 5 utilised as Crew Transfer Vessels when required sailing from Canada Dock 3 and Liverpool Marina.
• Penrhyn Bay, Gaillion, Porth Eilian, Caernarfon Bay, Gardian 2, Iceni Defiant, Kinmel Bay, Adventure, Buzzard, Captain P, Aberdaron Bay, Iceni Victory, Gardian 14, NSL Discovery and Kitty Petra sailed from the Port of Mostyn as required.
• Penrhos Bay & Tremadoc Bay are on 24 hour cover and being utilised by the Emergency Rescue Team sailing from RWE Pontoon Birkenhead.
• Commodore P will sail from Huskissons Dock as required to assist with cable operations.
• HBC Supporter will continue diving operations.
• Isadale will continue performing guard duties and will be used as the Marine Mammal Observation vessel as and when required.
• Channel Chieftain VII, Cwind Challenger and Cwind Resolution will continue refuelling operations on site based from Mostyn.
• Polar King will continue array cable installation (see notice to mariners here) assisted by CTVs Rix Panther and Rix Tiger.
• Fugro Saltaire will continue trenching & survey operations at Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm.
• DSV Red7 Tonjer will continue with diving operations, assisting Polar Prince as required.
• Cable installation vessel Ndurance will continue to repair OSPE export cable (see our notice to mariners here).
• Coaster Wilson Fedje will enter the CLD wet basin to collect a cable basket.
• Sea Comfort, a small accommodation vessel will join the project.
