This is a summary of the weekly notice of operations for the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Windfarm issued on 4th January 2015 to harbour masters and sea users. This notice describes progress with construction, recent operations, work planned for the next 7 days, and provides a list of vessels operating on the site with their contact details.
Wind Farm Construction Status
Windfarm construction is complete. Commissioning of the windfarm continues. Rock armour layer / cable protection work continues at various locations on site.
Notices to Mariners
There are currently two Notices to Mariners in force for the windfarm site:-
- Scour Protection works – this is being carried out by the vessel Tideway Rollingstone. The Notice to Mariners can be accessed here.
- FLIDAR Anchor buoyage – two navigation buoys are in place to mark the locations of 3 anchors on the seabed. The Notice to Mariners can be accessed here.
- UPDATE – Mariners are advised that the flashing light on one of the navigation buoys is reported to be faulty, and to navigate with caution in the vicinity of these buoys during hours of darkness / poor visibility.
Work carried out over past 7 days
The following work has been carried out in the past week:
- Tideway Rollingstone continued stone armour layer / cable protection work at Gwynt y Môr (see our previous notice here)
- Crew Transfer Vessels continued to operate from both Canada Dock Liverpool and Port of Mostyn to transfer technicians as required on a daily basis to / from the windfarm (weather permitting).
- 24 hour Emergency Response (ERT) cover infield continues with 2 CTVs operating from Canada Dock Liverpool (weather permitting).
- Channel Chieftain VII and Cwind Resolution continued refuelling operations on site based from Mostyn.

Port Arrivals
The planned port arrivals over the next 7 days are:-
- Cammel Laird Birkenhead/Port of Liverpool.
- Construction vessels and support vessels may enter Liverpool at short notice to change crew and collect stores.
- Mostyn.
- Crew transfer vessels will be transiting on a daily basis.
- Channel Chieftain VII Cwind Challenger & Cwind Resolution transiting daily, operating 24 hours.
- Port of Barrow
- Tideway Rollingstone will be operating from the Port of Barrow as required.
- Liverpool marina / Cammell Lairds wet basin / Canada Dock
- Crew transfer vessels listed in this notice will be transiting on a daily basis.
