Mariners are advised that geophysical survey operations are due to be carried out in and around the Gwynt y Môr Offshore windfarm during early April 2017. A Notice to Mariners has been issued, which is summarised below and can be downloaded here.
The vessel MV Meridian is due to carry out a geophysical survey over a period of up to 7 days, starting on 4th April 2017. The start date and duration of the survey may be affected by weather and sea conditions. The geographic extent of the survey is defined and illustrated in the Notice to Mariners that can be downloaded here.
The survey work will involve both sidescan and multibeam sonar surveys. During sidescan survey work MV Meridian may be towing equipment up to 100m behind the vessel. The vessel will be mobilising from Liverpool and will operate on a 24 hour basis. The vessel details, including a link to its present location, are:-

During the course of these operations the MV Meridian may be restricted in her ability to manoeuvre. Throughout survey operations the vessel will display the appropriate lights and shapes as required under the COLREGS Rule 27(b) and will require other vessels to maintain a wide berth of at least 500m.
The exact timing of the survey may be affected by the prevailing weather and sea conditions.
