Gwynt y Môr Export Cable Repair: Temporary Moorings for support vessels

Mariners are advised that two temporary moorings are to be installed near to the Gwynt y Môr export cable close to the North Wales coast near Abergele.  These moorings are due to be in place until late August 2024.  A Notice to Mariners for these moorings can be downloaded here and is summarised below.

Nature of Operations

During the repair operations for the Gwynt y Môr export cable, the support vessels for the two jack-up barges carrying out the repairs will stand by close to the barges.  Two mooring clumps have been installed for these vessels to use at the locations given below:-

  • Mooring 1: 053° 19.698’N 003° 36.549’W
  • Mooring 2: 053° 19.593’N 003° 36.762’W

AIS beacons are installed for both moorings.  Their position may be adjusted during the course of works if necessary, and Notices to Mariners will be issued if this occurs.

  1. Temporary moorings – this is the notice summarised above.  It provides details about two temporary moorings that have been installed for support vessels to use during August 2024.
  2. Repair works – this notice was issued in July 2024 and provides details of the location of repair works that are due to be carried out on the export cable during July-August 2024.  A summary of the Notice can be accessed here.
