Mariners are advised that maintenance and survey operations are due to be carried out at three locations within the Gwynt y Môr Wind Farm off the North Wales coast during December 2024. A Notice to Mariners about the maintenance work can be downloaded here and the survey work can be downloaded here and both are summarised below.
1. Maintenance location, timing & duration
The jack up vessel MPI Adventure is due to be carrying out maintenance operations in the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm at three turbines. The locations of these turbines are given below:-
- G19E: 53° 27.457’N 003° 28.702’W
- M05L: 53° 25.744’N 003° 35.639’W
- M02M: 53° 25.732’N 003° 37.584’W
The start date for this work is expected to be the 4th of December 2024 with an expected duration of 7 days. These dates are subject to weather and sea conditions.

This work is being carried out under Marine Licence No : ML 11/52/ML/4.
Vessel details
MPI Adventure is a jack up vessel measuring 138m in length by 41m in width, coloured red and white. The vessel details and a link to its present location are given below:-

When at the specified location the vessel will be restricted in the ability to manoeuvre and will exhibit signals in accordance with the UK Standard Marking Schedule for Offshore Installations.
Other vessels are asked to give MPI Resolution a 500m wide berth at all times and to gain permission from the vessel before approaching within the 500m zone.

2. Survey location, timing & duration
Seabed survey operations are due to be carried out around one of the wind turbines within the Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm turbine array on or around the 3rd of December 2024 for a period of one day (weather permitting).
The location of the survey work is given as:-
- M02M: 53° 25.732’N 003° 37.584’W

Vessel details
The survey work will be carried out by the vessel Spectrum 3 which is an aluminium catamaran measuring 19m in length, 6m in beam and has a greay hull, white superstructure and an orange roof. The vessel will monitor VHF Channel 16 at all times.
During this survey the vessel will be towing equipment and will be restricted in its ability to manoeuvre. Other vessels are requested to pass at a safe speed and maintain a wide berth of at least 500m distance.

Mariners are advised that the following Notices to Mariners have been issued for the Gwynt y Môr windfarm and export cable and remain current:-
- Gwynt y Môr offshore windfarm: risk of cable exposure – this notice was issued in September 2021. It advises mariners that there are areas where cables may be exposed within the windfarm array, and that these areas are subject to change in response to tidal and weather effects on the seabed.
